Basic Fly Tying 101
Beginning September, 2008 - Schedule to be announced
This will be 5 evenings over five winter months - one
evening a month beginning in September.
You will learn the basics of fly tying; history, materials,
both natural and synthetic, adapting those materials to
specific uses in imitating prey species, hooks, threads,
knots, cements, grading hackle feathers and sizing
feathers to hooks. You will also tie the basic wooly-
booger, nymphs, dry flies, streamers and terrestrials.
Materials are included.
$125.00 per person for the course. Limited to 4 students
maximum.
Advanced Fly Tying 201
Beginning September, 2008 - Schedule to be announced
This course is for the experienced fly tyer who wants to
expand his range of skills.
This will be 5 nights over five winter months and will
cover spinning deer hair and preparing popper bodies,
compound and articulated flies, adaptation of synthetic
and natural materials to specific imitations, tube flies,
salmon hair wing and feather wing flies, color
enhancement and the use of the latest innovations in the
field. Materials are included.
$125.00 per person for the course. Limited to 4 students
maximum.
Winging it "on the fly"
$150 per person for a one day 7 hour class (two people maximum) includes
all materials. This is an intensive class designed for people who are planning
a trip to a remote area for a specific fish species who will not have access to a
ready supply of replacement flies. Focus is on minimal materials used to
mimic a wide variety of prey sources.

Individual Fly Casting Lessons
Feather & Fly offers individual casting lessons by appointment. These can
be conducted either on our Lake Chickamauga, the Tennessee River or at a
trout fishing destination.
Prices are as follows:
Lake Chickamauga or Tennessee River----------$50 per hour (2 hour
minimum) $75 per hour for 2 people (2 hour minimum)
Trout Destinations---------------------------------------$200 for 4 hours
instruction $275 for 2 rods for 4 hours
Fly Rods/Reels furnished if needed. Waders/Boots can be rented for $35 per
day.
Beginning Spey Casting
Classes are offered twice a year in April & September.

Students will learn the basics of overhand, single-spey, and double spey casts.
Spey rods are provided, waders/boots for rental at $35 day.
Costs: $150 per person based upon a class size of 6 individuals, for a 4 hour
class.
Private lessons can be coordinated by calling Feather & Fly. Private lessons
are $50 per hour with a 2 hour minimum.
